MBC Clubletter May 2005.

Att:Club Members, 30th May 2005.

The 3rd club contest will be held this weekend on Sunday 5th June, be at beach at 700am to help set up and get names down for heats as we would like to start right on 730am.The tides for the day are a high at 703am 1.33m and low tide 1245pm 0.52m. Rocks , ladies and the shorebreak have really been on, so it's looking promising for good waves.

There has been some very pleasing results of late in the Regional Titles with the club members winning 7 of the 12 titles that were decieded. Special mentions to Rod Anderson and Darren Paxton for putting on one of the best presentations at Sanbah/Eastpoint that the local association has had for a long time. Winners were Philipa Anderson/irls 14's and 16's, Ryan Callinan 14's, Wes Baibbridge 16's, Craig Anderson 18's, Terry McKenna 40's and Glen Benton 50's. Jesse Adam runner up in Opens and Marc Caban most promising junior.Gary Callinan cleaned up and won the mega raffle and won't need legropes or deck grip for a few years. Club members also filled alot of the minor placings and we were represented by 42 members over the weekend. A large contingent of club member will represent the Region in the state titles and it would just about be the most our club has supplied.

Already we are getting a return on renting the new generator to the NSA and some interest has been shown for a couple of more contests providing they don't clash with ours.We had great success with the new jaffle and Charles and George cooked up 35 ham, cheese and tomatoe as well as 15 cheese sangas for breakfast which cost the club a total of $17. Will need a hand as Charles and George won't be here next comp.

Our head chef/Gary Back once again turned it on with his now famous Back Burgers[we want chilli sauce] and has informed me the Soup ain't far off. Thanks to Peter Kallinas of the Merewether Fruit Shop for all the fruit and veges as the watermelon once again dissapeared in a matter of minutes.

We will have to choose a month coming up for 2 contests as we have lost a few early on due to Surfest and Junior competitions. At the moment we are looking at either 8 or 9 comps and may have to unclude the Fancy Dress comp as a point scoring comp next season.

Other results of late were Rhys Benton 2nd at Old Bar under 18's and Jesse Adam winning under 18's at Avoca last weekend. This is an indication of the club getting stronger now and the ability to push other members along.

THE CLEANERS REPORT.
Competition 2 held in clean good waves and big congradulations to all winners and competitors. We are seeing now an emergance of the grommets progressing to the cadet ranks that will only strengthen the club in coming years. great to see all the members that competed in the Sanbah Regional Titles.

Our clothing lines are coming along good with spray jackets in and we are looking at hooded sloppy joes. Please bring money for ordered items at the next comp with $35 for large sizes and $30 for kids. Jackets were seen everywhere at the Regional Titles and came in very handy with the wind and rain.

See you bright and early for next comp this Sunday and the chicken soup is getting closer the colder it gets.

A clean beach is a happy beach, reguards Gary Back.

We are looking to have a big raffle this year as our major fund raising exercise so any ideas let either me or our number 1 fund raiser Charles know at next comp!
