Two men killed on a ship during storm brought to Male

MALE, July 6 (HNS) - The bodies of two crew members who were killed during an incident onboard the German vessel “Izmeeru” during a violent storm, have been brought to Male and are being kept in the Galholhu Cemetery Mortuary.

The two men who were killed in the incident were the Captain and the Chief Officer, both of Algerian nationality, and are being kept at the Mortuary pending further investigations as both men had suffered severe injuries to their bodies that had been the cause of their death, the Maldives Police Service has said.

The ship had been travelling from Hong Kong to Port Said in Egypt when they had run into a violent storm during which the two men, both Algerian by nationality, had apparently died. The ship arrived in Male around dusk Wednesday and the Maldives Police Service has said that they were investigating the matter.
