MALE, Mar 13 (HNS) - Hulhumale Development Corporation (HDC) has said that within four days, 382 application forms have been submitted for the 100 one-room-flats and 64 row houses in Hulhumale.

An official of HDC said Sunday that most of the forms, submitted between last Monday and Thursday were for one-room-flats.

He said that 262 forms were submitted for the one-room-flats. HDC said that the number of forms submitted for the row-houses, as of Thursday was 120.

The deadline for submission of application forms is April 13.

Forms are received from a special desk in Dharubaaruge and forms can be bought from all Male district offices.

“Many are submitting forms. Forms are being received from Dharubaaruge between 8:30 am till 2:30 on all days except public holidays,” an official of HDC said.

As HDC revealed, a person who wants to buy a one-room-flat can follow any one of three methods. If the buyer is willing to pay all at once the cost is Rf 211,800. If not paying all at once a down payment of 20 percent of the total cost, which is Rf 42,360 can be paid. After paying the down payment Rf 1,525 should be paid each month for 20 years. The third way is not paying the down payment but paying Rf 1,900 per month for 20 years. The floor area of a one room flat is 29 square meters.

One-room-flats each consists of a sitting room, a kitchen and a toilet. The construction of the flats and houses costs Rf 76 million.

A four room row house can be bought for Rf 1,127,400. The down payment is 20 percent of the total cost which is Rf 225,480. After paying the down payment Rf 8,115 should be paid monthly for 20 years. A four room row house is designed to have two floors. The total floor area of each of those houses in 125 square meters.
