MALE, Feb 28 (HNS) - Baa Atoll Office has confirmed that at least Rf 200,000 has been stolen from that atoll’s Thulaadhoo Island Office Sunday night.

Ibrahim Maniku Dhonmaniku who is in charge of running the atoll office said Monday that police are investigating the matter.

“We knew of the robbery today morning. The files in the office were thrown around the place. The money was stolen from the safe in the office after forcing the safe open,” he said.

Ibrahim Maniku said that since the payroll was in the safe it was unclear just how much money was stolen. He said that documents show that about Rf 200,000 was missing.

“For now we are sure that Rf 190,000 is missing. The exact amount will be clear when police finish investigation,” Ibrahim Maniku said.
