MALE, Feb 26 (HNS) - The criminal court has sentenced for 14 years of banishment a female staff who worked in the Sports Ministry for stealing more than Rf 100,000 made from selling tickets of sports tournaments.

The criminal court said Thursday that Sana Abdusattar, 38, was sentenced because she had not entered into the Ministry’s temporary account the money which should be entered and, according to her own confession, used Rf 126,929.47 of that money for her own purposes.

She received a banishment term because this is the first time she has been proven to have done such an act. The court had also came to a verdict that she must repay the money unreturned to the Ministry by paying no less than Rf 2,500 each month after her banishment term is completed.

Sana’s case surfaced during the auditing process.
