MALE, Jan 31 (HNS) - The 63 bidders who submitted bids to build a 200-bed resort in Addu atoll Hajara, an island in Herethere, all proposed the maximum rent.
In the function held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel Sunday to receive the bids, 63 out of the 70 who bought the bid documents submitted their bids.
All the bidders were Maldivian companies and individuals. The bids were opened and the proposed rent and insurance coverage mentioned in the bid document, and the proposal of having Maldivian employees were disclosed by Tourism Ministry officials.
All the bidders had proposed the maximum rent per bed mentioned in the bid document along with employee insurance coverage and have also agreed to keep Maldivian employees, meeting with the guidelines in the bid document to the highest possibility.
The maximum rent per bed for 10 years of the resort targeting middle-class tourists is US$ 23,906.05 (Rf 307,192.74). As rent for 10 years of all 200 beds the government will receive US$ 4,781,210 (Rf 61.4 million).
The bidders agreed to have 65 percent Maldivian employees in the first two years, 75 percent in the third and fourth years and 85 percent from the fifth to the tenth year. The bidders also agreed to have a yearly insurance coverage of Rf 30,000 for each employee.
The mark allocation is 45 points for rent, 35 points for importance given to having Maldivian employees and the remaining 20 percent for insurance coverage.
“Bid evaluation will start Monday night. The results will be available in two to three days and if the winning bidder has to be chosen through a draw, the drawing date will be informed,” said an official of the Tourism Ministry about the bid evaluation procedure.
The evaluators of the bids are three people working in different sectors.
