We, the Maldivians or Dhivehin, have an almost unique status among the nations of the world. No country worth their salt can boast or claim the kind of uniqueness that we have. Which country in the world is made up of a people of one Ethnic origin, one Religion and one Language? None! Only our very own, the Maldives islands.
All citizens of the Maldives, are one of the ethnic group or origin, adhere to the same religion- Islam, and speak the same language the Dhivehi language. Big and powerful nations like the “United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and India”. “Singapore, Malaysia, the Central and South Americas, Spain or Portugal all have multi - ethnic groups, embraced in different religion and speak in a horse of various languages. We the Maldivians have one Faith, one Religion, one tongue and one origin. We should be proud of it and stood stand united as long as possible if not forever. We should not deviate from our original path simply to attend our own selfish ends.
We, the Maldivians are the kind of people who always abide by the rules and regulations of our government and uphold our constitutions which goes back to 1932. It is incumbent on all of us to maintain this peaceful status, We are a piece loving society which look upon violence as the worst method of gaining our ends. Our constitution, with necessary changes according to the times has remained the backbone of our state and faith. Let no one snatch it from us! It belongs only to the Dhivehi of the Republic of Maldives.
Our prayer is an always will be that our people and our Nation adhere to this original status for the sake of our children, grandchildren, great grand children to look upon on it as their heritage, Amen! By Naila Ibrahim Kaleyfaan
