MALE, Jan 10 (HNS) - Valuables such as mobile phones and wallets kept under motorcycle seats by some youth who go to play sports in various areas of Male is being stolen Maldives Police Service has said.

Police said that theft from motorcycle seats is more during dawn, morning and night. Police said that most thefts are done from near the Maafannu Stadium.

“It is a very rare to see a day without a case of theft from motorcycles being reported,” police said. “Phones as expensive as Rf 10,000 and Rf 12,000 have been stolen from under motorcycle seats. Wallets with large amount of money is also stolen from under motorcycle seats. Other valuables have also been stolen,” police said.

Police said that during last December 30 cases of theft from motorcycles were reported.
